Summary: This Edutopia article is a retrospective on "Promoting Social and Emotional Learning: Guidelines for Educators" which was published by CASEL twenty years ago. The book gave birth to the field of SEL and suggested 39 guidelines for SEL implementation. This article selects 10 of these which have stood the test of time.
